Following a successful inaugural year, Equity in Practice returns for its second year with an expanded series of six standalone, in-person workshops offered throughout the 2026-27 school year.

Each workshop is designed and led by Monique Marshall as its own learning experience, while remaining connected through a shared commitment to equity, belonging, identity-conscious practice, and meaningful classroom application. In select sessions, Monique partners with expert guest collaborators to co-facilitate the learning, bringing additional perspectives and depth to the conversation.

Workshops are intentionally limited to 20 educators, creating space for connection, reflection, and active participation. 

Participants will:

• Deepen their understanding of identity-conscious and anti-bias teaching practices
• Engage in hands-on activities with direct classroom application
• Develop tools and routines that strengthen students’ sense of belonging
• Explore practical ways to embed equity into existing curriculum and classroom practices
• Learn alongside a community of equity-minded K-12 educators

All workshops will take place in person in Mid-City, Los Angeles. Each session includes a light breakfast and a catered lunch sourced from local restaurants. Registration is $450 per participant, per workshop. Schools registering four or more participants for the same workshop will receive a discounted group rate of $400 per participant.

Come join this collective learning journey with other committed educators. When you participate in any and/or all of these workshops designed specifically for groups no larger than 20 educators, you will…  

• Experience self-growth and learning focused on identity-conscious and anti-bias themes while connecting equity-minded K-12 educators 
• Practice tools and receive takeaways for immediate classroom implementation
• Engage in activities that have a long-term impact on your students’ sense of belonging 
• Discuss and develop ways to embed diversity and equity work into your current classroom routines and practices

All sessions will take place in person at female/BIPOC-owned locations in Mid-City and Leimert Park, Los Angeles, CA. Food, sourced from local restaurants, will be served for each session, including a light breakfast and catered lunch. Street parking is available but can be challenging. Please arrive early to park. Carpooling or ridesharing (Uber/Lyft) is highly suggested.
